PUMPKIN PATCH! HALLOWEEEEN! Read a detailed guide on the new Animal Crossing New Horizons Fall Halloween Update! #animalcrossing #halloween

Hello again everyone! I’m writing a quick, but detailed post about the new Fall Halloween Update for our Northern Hemisphere players! Also, this is proof that yes in fact I am still alive 😉 (I’ve started my Master’s degree and WOW is it keeping me busy..but I digress).

Downloading the Fall Update

The downloading process usually happens automatically, and upon a successful download you will receive TWO FREE GIFTS in your mailbox! The first being a framed painting of Jack, and the second being the sought after Ring-con from Ring Fit Adventure for the Nintendo Switch. Admittedly, the second gift is more of an in-game ad, but I like to believe Nintendo is doing this constructively with good intentions behind this specific product push.

Everyone is currently living an alternate lifestyle of social distancing and self-quarantine. So there isn’t much room for activity, and that is why this push for a ring fit is actually a good idea…personally speaking; I know I’ve gained a few pounds since March 😉

If you don’t see the Update

If, for some reason, the Autumn festivities have not appeared in your game by October 1, then maybe you need to make sure your Switch downloaded the Fall update.

  1. From the Nintendo Switch’s Home menu, hover over the Animal Crossing: New Horizons icon
  2. Press + and the game information will display.
  3. Scroll down to Software Update.
  4. Select Via the Internet. The Switch will check for any new versions and will download them if necessary.
  5. Select OK

Once you have done these steps, your Switch will automatically search for any Animal Crossing: New Horizons updates it might not have already. Hopefully that solves the issue and allows you to take part in the Halloween festivities.

Grow your very own PUMPKIN PATCH!!

To start growing your pumpkins, you have two choices: buy them from Timmy & Tommy at Nook’s Cranny or from Leif the sloth beginning October 1. To craft all of the Halloween decorations you possibly can before Halloween, you are going to want to grow sever pumpkins; like this lovely pumpkin patch above! Acorns, Pinecones, and Halloween DIY Recipes

Advertisements

As you all have probably found out by now players who have the DIY Recipes app unlocked, will receive the Tree’s Bounty Little Tree recipe from Isabelle after turning their games on. Additionally, Isabelle will explain that acorns and pinecones can now fall from your island’s trees. I’ve also seen from Nintendo’s official trailers that mushrooms will appear on the island as part of the fall update.

Remember your pumpkin patch? Well, if you gather pumpkins, you’ll be able to craft them into various Spooky Pumpkin DIY recipes (via imore.com) during the month of October. Tend to your patch so you can get your island completely ready for the spookiness of Halloween.

New Fall-time Characters & Holidays

During Halloween you will likely see Jack, the pumpkin—headed ghost?, roaming around waiting for you to complete some special tasks! And upon doing so, you will receive special holiday items and furniture! Likewise, around Thanksgiving you will see Franklin, the ironic turkey chef who will also reward you with holiday items and furniture by completing tasks!
