TL;DR

Tom Nook needs 5 creatures found on your island in order to invite Blathers; who will then give you the Vaulting Pole (and shovel) in Animal Crossing: New Horizons! #ACNH #AnimalCrossing

First things first, in order to have Blathers on your island; which is a necessity for all players, you will need to find 5 different creatures found around your island. You will need to capture these happy little creatures, either in with your flimsy net or flimsy fishing rod, and present them to Tom Nook; who can be found in the Resident Services tent.

After you’ve given Tom Nook 5 different creatures; he will be elated and express how joyful his long-time friend Blathers will be with the “fauna” found on your island! Blathers will move to your island the next day, but first you have to find a suitable place for his tent (and your future museum)! The next day, talk to Blathers when you have time, and he will give you the DIY recipe for the vaulting pole; and the flimsy shovel to dig up fossils!

And that’s it, Blathers will be a welcomed guest onto your island community!

I recommend, while waiting a full day for Blathers to get his things in order, to continue capturing creatures and critters found on your island so that when Blathers does arrive, you can give him his necessary 15 creatures to put on display in your future museum. Doing so will make sure your museum will get built shortly after Blathers arrives!

I ended up stockpiling critters near Resident Services!

I hope you’re enjoying your island as much as I’m enjoying mine!

I named my island Rumrunners, my fruit is pears🍐, and I was welcomed with Shari and Biff!

What did you name your island, what is your native fruit, and who were the first two villagers to take up residence?
