A new companion app for Animal Crossing: New Horizons is on it’s way to the iOS App Store. The fan-made app will give you all the details you will need on Villagers, Bugs, Fish, Diving, and more! #ACNH #AnimalCrossingTweet
Do you remember how hard it was to keep track of all the villagers, bugs, fish and other wildlife in Animal Crossing: New Leaf, and even Pocket Camp? Well the app being developed by Animal Crossing fan u/jeffreykuiken is sure to ease the headache this time around in Animal Crossing: New Horizons!
The app, likely called ACNH Travel Guide, will feature easy to access databases on all villagers in the game, as well as the bugs you can catch, fish you can reel in, deep sea creatures to find, and more.
In the first image, we can see the villager search where, first and foremost, it divides the villagers by type of animal. Then gives you their personality type, and birthday! For example, in the very first line we see Goose, who is a chicken animal with a Jock personality, and has a birthday on October 4th. Tapping on the checkmark icon next to the > arrow will bring you to a page with a full description of Goose!
All The Details
This “full description” page will be very similar to the second image, portraying a Sea Star under the Diving category. You’ll be able to read a detailed description about the wildlife creature.
For the specific example in this image, we can see, reading top to bottom:
- an image of a Sea Star so you know exactly what to look for in-game
- the name of the specific wildlife you chose
- how many bells you can sell this creature for
- what time of day they can be found; Sea Stars can be found all day!
- what time of year is best to find these five legged…fingered?…legged creatures
- the location of where to find a Sea Star
- it’s shadow size
- and more!
Full Search Functionality
If you find yourself in need of information about a specific wildlife creature or villager, you can easily do that with a full search of the app to find exactly what or whom you’re looking for!
When searching, the app seems to provide the necessary details you’re looking for within the search itself! You won’t even need to tap again on the specific villager or wildlife to find, for example, how many bells does a Napoleonfish sell for? Easy! 10,000 bells thank you very much!
Android App Release?
When asked by a fellow redditor whether there will be an Android release of the app the developer politely responded
“Unfortunately, no 😦 I’m sorry, I hope there’ll be a great app for all Android users as well!”u/jeffreykuiken

About The Data
As it stands right now, the app pulls it’s data resources from Animal Crossing: New Leaf. Now that’s not much of an issue as it’s very likely most of the wildlife and villagers from New Leaf will also be available in New Horizons.
But what about the NEW villagers and wildlife in Animal Crossing: New Horizons??
The developer has a very smart solution, within the realm of app develop, for when the game is released on March 20th. u/jeffreykuiken created his database as a separate entity, that the app then uses as it’s source for the information you see on screen. This means that the developer can easily update the information within the app WITHOUT requiring you to download a new version of the app itself.
This is brilliant if you ask me! You won’t have to wait for the app to download the new information on the villagers or wildlife, because once the developer presses his “update” button; all of the new wildlife and villagers will sync to the app and be readily available for you while you play!
The image below is a quick screenshot of the developer explaining just that, and a few more in-app goodies at the end of his reply!
While the app sure is more aesthetically pleasing than another fan-made companion app I did a review on, the ACNH Travel Guide app seems to provide you with similar information and tracking features. This is not to shoot down this app in any regard! Both apps will give you the info you need, when you need it, and make sure your play-through of Animal Crossing: New Horizons is as smooth as butter.
This app is currently set for release on Friday, March 20th. So while your digital copy of ACNH is finishing its download, or just before you pop in your physical copy into your Switch; make sure to give this app a try!
The other ACNH companion app I mentioned is available now if you want to have a look around. The article is about the iOS App, and there currently isn’t an Android version of that app either, although a source of mine was able to find an Android companion app that is very similar! Both download links for those apps can be found in the other Animal Crossing: New Horizons companion app article.
UPDATE: The companion app is now available on the App Store!
It is a paid app at $3.99, but the quality seems second to none! You can check it out now by clicking the button below.
What do you think about the ACNH Travel Guide app? Will you be downloading and seeing what it has to offer?
